Ode to Joy

What an awesome piece of music. Despite being incredibly famous, a lot of people dismiss it as a childish or silly piece because it’s one of the first and simplest melodies that most instrumental musicians learn. I know I had to sit through endless renditions of it when my brothers were learning to play guitar and violin. But most people only ever learn the chorus and then abandon it for more “complicated” music, never listening to the piece in its full orchestral and choral glory. So here it is. It’s the official anthem of Europe. It’s been used in fight scenes and love scenes, from film to Neon Genesis Evangelion: the fourth movement of Beethoven’s 9th symphony, with words by Franz Schiller. Ode to Joy!
